Women Empowerment

Women’s empowerment can be defined as acknowledging their rights as human beings and boosting their self-esteem. The history depicts the difficulties that women face in order to live peacefully. However, with the proper education, awareness, and guidance, women’s societal status has changed drastically. Women are succeeding and excelling in a variety of fields, including business, sports, politics, medicine, defence, military, and so on.

We at SKJ Juris believe that, every woman is unique and has a determined choice, whether she lives within or outside the home. Let’s see what our maximum number of empowered women has to say.

Importance of Women Empowerment:

  • Contributes to the Country’s Overall Development-

Women are actively taking part in every other field of society. With women’s involvement in all fields, a country progresses and develops. This leads to the overall development and prosperity of the country.

  • Achieves the goal of Gender Equality-

Women have been vulnerable to discrimination for ages due to their gender. They were often regarded as inferior to men in all aspects. Nevertheless, due to a transformation in the attitude of the people, the status of women has changed for the better. They are given the same status as men. Women are encouraged to participate and voice their opinions on several matters.

  • Literacy empowers women fight Domestic Violence-

Literacy helps women understand the difference between right and wrong. Empowered women can determine the injustice done to them. It teaches women the rights they can exercise that will help them fight against domestic violence and strive for impartiality.

  • Independence and Financial Stability-

Women who are well educated and knowledgeable are the pillars of society. They have the power to stand up for themselves. At the same time, they can sustain and earn their livelihood without having to depend on the male character in their lives.

From India’s perspective, women have stood up in their own rights in every field. Some of the examples are:

  • Ms. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, the founder of Biocon said that she handled all hardships such as inexperience, femininity, and lack of funding but she refused to give up and now she is known as India’s first Biotech queen.
  • Ms. Meena Ganesh, the founder of Portea Medical states that her road from being a starting up until reaching great heights was paved with unwavering commitment and resilience.
  • Ms. Geetha Manjunath, the founder and CEO of NIRAMAI Health Analytix that provides non-invasive, radiation free breast cancer screening through AI, believes that new ideas and problem solving capacity have been motifs in her successful entrepreneurship.
  • Ms. Preetha Reddy, the Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, is a pioneer in India’s healthcare sector and played a significant role in helping the Indian government introduce the NABH.

The global action towards the concept of Women Empowerment can be highlighted through the following examples:

Global actions for Women Empowerment:

  • UN Women-

UN Women is the United Nations Organization that thrives to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment goals on a global level.

  • Global Fund for Women-

The Global Fund for Women was established in order to promote the necessity of promoting the basic human rights of women. They support grassroots, female-led movements.

  • Sustainable Development Goals-

Many developing and developed countries have called for action in response to the Sustainable Development Goals. Those countries have agreed on crucial goals to eradicate poverty and promote global prosperity. One of the goals propagates achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls for a harmonious world.

  • International Labour Organization-

ILO is a global organization that believes in promoting equal opportunities for men and women at work. At the same time, it aims to enforce the equal pay policy for men and women.

  • United Nations Population Fund-

UNFPA is the global agency that works to prohibit gender-based violence and stop immoral and preventive practices.
